Feeling reflective

Sometimes we have to accept that life isn’t going to go according to plan.

That people aren’t going to stay in your life even if you want them to.

Life moves on, circumstances change and people grow apart.

This doesn’t mean you feel any ill will or wish any harm.

It’s just the acceptance of the ever evolving crazy thing we call life.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my future and what I want for it.

Devising my plans, aims and goals.

Yet as always as I look forward I to find myself looking back.

Being reflective isn’t a bad thing it helps you understand your journey and how you got to where you are now.

But allowing the past to hold your future to ransom is never a good thing.

So today I am being reflective.

I am sending out love and thanks to those I have met along the way.

I am also aching a little (a lot) for those that are missing.

But I am stepping forward.

Stepping into the great exciting place we call the future.

Excited for the journeys I have yet to take

For the people I have yet to meet

and of course for the memories I have yet to make.

Changing tastes

OK as I have mentioned before here on this blog I am a mom of teenagers and I have the grey hair to prove it. Anyway what consistently surprises me about my girlie’s is the amount of times they change their minds.

What is their favorite one week is considered to be completely uncool the next.

I seriously cannot keep up.

Take only yesterday I asked my daughter about a couple of her band tops as I haven’t seen her wearing them recently, these band tops cost me a small fortune only last summer. Anyway like i said I asked her where they were to which she replied “I can’t wear them anymore”. Me thinking size etc asked “have you grown out of them?” to which she replied “no but they are so last year”.

So last year, it seems the bands had become more main stream and others were beginning to like them and that can’t be good.

Well OK then.

This is happening a lot as they grow their tastes are changing and they get interested in new things and that’s OK. What isn’t OK is the constant stream of left behind CDs and DVDs and 3DS games.

I don’t have money to burn regardless of what my teenagers believe.

So I was rather excited to come across the website musicMagpie.co.uk a place where you can sell your, DVDs,games,Tech, Electronics and even clothes (band tops here they come).

Its really easy to use, you enter the item you wish to sell into their Valuation Engine and you get an instant price of what you can sell it for.

It even takes the stress of postage away as you send the items free of charge to them and they deal with it all. You just end up getting paid. I’m liking that idea.

Seems its a big win win for me and the girls, they get to sell their “so last year stuff” and I get to have some cash to purchase the “so this year stuff”.

So if you are like me and have ever changing children or have a need to have a sort out check out musicmagpie.co.uk

I’m off to empty the girls bedrooms and sell my 3DS games and CDs.

See you later.xxxx

International Women’s Day

20130308-103415.jpg

So as today is International Woman’s day I’ve been thinking about women who have inspired me.

Now I apologise to mom’s’ Nans and aunts out there but I’m talking this time about women who we don’t know, who we aren’t related too.

Women we dream of meeting.

These are my top three inspirational women who have in someway may a difference to my life.

Maya Angelou
Mother Teresa
Mary The mother of Jesus

Now why Maya Angelou? I could just simply write its just the beauty and raw honestly of her writing that inspires me. I first read her first book “I know why the cage bird sings ” when I was a teenager it changed me then as it does every time I read it.

Yet it’s her audaciousness to change pre-conceptions and her dedication to civi-rights violations that brings my admiration to such great levels.

This is one inspirational lady.

Then we have Mother Teresa, do I really have to explain why I find this lady inspirational. This quiet unassuming nun has been the salvation of so many. In the slums of India she has nursed, cared, fed the poor and worked so tirelessly for the improvement of their lives.

If this wasn’t enough this wonderful lady has written the most beautiful heartfelt words that I have ever read. Her devotion to God is something I inspire to and all this is without mentioning her nobel prize.

My last choice today (all though these woman are in no particular order. ) Is Mary the mother of Jesus.

Now I have written about Mary before, my reverence for the mother of Jesus is something I openly discuss.

For me it’s wasn’t that God chose her to be Jesus mothers though that is certainly an honour. No for me it was her courage to say yes.

Mary knew that her family would shun her, the whole town would judge her. Even her husband to be, yet still she said yes.

She also knew that the son she brought into this world was never going to be leading a normal life, she feared for him but still stood by his side.

Her strength of faith is something I admire so much.

Though beyond remembering women who have inspired us, International Women’s Day is so much more.

It’s a day of remembering the inspirational women we wish to be.

Inspiring us to be the best moms we can be, the best wives, girlfriends etc.

The best friends, colleagues, neighbours etc etc.

Inspiring us to take steps to change the world, stand together to fight poverty, famine and human rights violations.

Times are changing and as women of today we have a voice.

Let it be heard

So happy International Women’s day to every woman in the world you are all inspirational.

Forever Changing

I have an obsession with perception and how it differs from one person to another.

A piece of art to one is a masterpiece yet to another its an eye sore.

A poem can be a beautiful prose for someone yet for another a boring recite.

I’ve heard it be said that eye witnesses accounts are the least useable piece of evidence as people see things differently.

Their perceptions are different, changed by circumstance, placement and time.

I love it

This crazy ever changing world.

Nothing is ever the same, the seconds move and that moment ago can never be relived in the same way.

One of my favourite sayings is

Who defines normal ?

What is normal ?

I’m quite sure my normal wouldn’t be the same as yours.

Again this is what I love about life, the changing seasons, the moving galaxies it’s all beyond our wildest imaginations.

This is why I have faith.

I look at a field of green grass and wonder over the fact that every blade is different.

I think about the millions, no billions of people in this world and marvel at the fact that everyone has differences, the sequence of our DNA proves this.

We are all Unique

We are all Incredible

There are so many new discoveries made every day that we haven’t a clue what tomorrow will bring.

Something, someone created this universe and to me that what or who is God.

For me my wonder is in God

For me my creation is in God

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
Psalm 139:13 ESV
