I’m so tired of ego’s, the desire to be seen as being right is overthrowing compassion, empathy and honesty. I am seeing people building up themselves by tearing down others and my heart is breaking.
Here in the UK we have just faced a general election one which has become the breeding ground for lies, hate speech and vitrol. Division, propaganda and so much more on all sides.
It has felt like darkness has begun to suffocate the country, not because of peoples vote but because of the disrespect of others.
As we more towards the season of light I have to have hope. I have to believe in a brighter future.
I just have to.
Darkness can only win when all light Is removed, I refuse to remove my light.
So I’m moving forward today, with kindness, compassion and determination, we have to have hope and if we cannot find it right now we can be it, I will be it.
Darkness will not win.

The land is come to darkness,
and the demons of the night
are now in full fell harness,
prepared for hell’s own flight.
Their presence is our doing,
their welcome is our heart
in its relentless choosing
of that which pulls apart.
So much went so very wrong,
for which we can’t atone;
this will be the final song
if we try to sing alone.
To lift the shadow on the land
it’s heart to heart, and hand in hand.

Yes! Darkness will not win! Praying for the UK tonight! It makes me think of the Martin Luther King Jr quote about darkness and hate. I’m blessed to be your neighbor at FMF this week.

That’s exactly what’s been on my heart this week.

Feel much the same as you re the UK election results. Hate the division and unkindness and disrespect that has invaded our land. But you’re right – the way to fight darkness is with its opposites of light and hope:
‘In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[understood] it.’

Praying God will continue to bring Light to the Dark areas of our world.
Sorry your country and so many of our world are in turmoil. Praying for peace.
God,
You are Creator of the Light and the Dark.
Forgive us when we forget that.
Grant us mercy and thanksgiving for all that we have.
Please continue to show us Your Light, Your Son, and to feel Your Spirit.
Amen

Love this: “darkness can only win when all light is removed” – so true, even in the darkness there is always hope. Visiting from FMF # 20. I’m in Scotland and someone reminded me this morning of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 – he was despairing and felt alone and defeated but God encouraged him that there were many others on his side. Let’s keep shining the light!
